Peace Activity #2: Poetry for Peace

It’s time for Peace Activity #2! The Peace Activities are monthly events/announcements meant to encourage participation in the Peace Day Blogfest 2012 and spread the knowledge about International Peace Day 21 September.

This second peace activity celebrates the medium of poetry in eliciting solemnity, tranquillity, and joy. While many poems are written specifically to describe the author’s emotions or experiences, most poetry is universal, touching any reader.

For the Poetry for Peace activity, you can write a poem (a sonnet, free verse, anything you would like) that is about peace, be it world peace, inner peace, or simply a peaceful feeling. I will post all of the poems (it’s not a contest) throughout the month of September as a way to promote Peace Day, as well as linking to the author’s blog if they have one.

Please email your poem to me by 31 August at

Thanks, and I can’t wait to read and share your poems for peace!

Also, remember that Peace Activity #1 is still going on! Everyone who signs up for the Peace Blogfest 2012 will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a copy of the novel Life of Pi by Yann Martel.
