How Long Have You Been Writing?

Have you been writing for a long time? Ten years? Twenty years? Or is writing a new discovery for you?

Me, I've been writing since I learned how. I know, it's cliché. I learned how to read and write when I was about four, so roughly fifteen years ago.

How about you? How long have you been writing?

Peace, Aimee

  1. This is probably cliche too, but I've been writing longer than you've been alive. :(

Really, though, I've only been serious about it the last ten years. Sigh.

  2. Thanks for the comment, L.G.Smith! I've been writing seriously for about five years, but I came up with some pretty unique stories as a kid. :) I guess writing and writing seriously are two very different things.

  3. Does birth count? Well, actually I made books as a toddler, but mostly scribble. Haven't improved too much, but I write ever day and have done that for the past 6+ years.

  4. I've been writing on and off for a long time. When I was a student, I wrote travel diary in my summer vacations while traveling around Europe by train, but not much else (except stuff related to classes). Now I write quite regularly, both science reports and publications, and fiction (and blog of course) >:)

    Cold As Heaven

  5. I started writing with the goal of getting published in February of 2008. A decision forged out of necessity really.

Great looking blog, by the way. Looking forward to reading future posts!

  6. I've been writing since 1971. Started with poetry, then off to short stories ... plays and skits ... Crime Fiction (Adult & YA - unpublished & need to edit/rewrite) ... Flash Fiction and I used to write for newspapers years ago.

  7. You have a fabulous blog! I want to award you with one of my homemade awards: Inspiring Blog Award for all the hard work you do!

I invite you to follow me since we have a lot in common, but no pressure. I’m not giving you the award just so you will follow me. You really do deserve it!
    Take care:-)

Go to and pick up your award.

  8. Thanks for the comments everyone! And thanks to Dierdra for the award! I'm glad to see people who have been writing for a long time, as well has having new writers around!

  9. I've wanted to write since I was in Elementary School. In high school I wrote but had no idea what I was doing. After that life happened and I had to get several things out of the way before I could take it seriously (school, family, occupation establishment). Now that is at a spot I'm happy with I've been studying writing seriously for about a year now.
